Abstract

In my article, I explore the principles of professional ethics that are essential for English language teachers in today’s educational environment. I examine how ethical behaviour shapes teacher–student interactions, classroom communication, fair assessment, and the personal values that inform responsible teaching. By analyzing international teaching standards, ESL methodology literature, classroom observations, and teacher interviews, I identify the key ethical challenges teachers face and offer practical, human-centred recommendations for improving professional conduct. My findings show that ethical behaviour is not an optional supplement to teaching, but a fundamental component of effective English language instruction.
