Abstract
The Russian language occupies a special place in the educational space of the post-Soviet and wider Eurasian region, serving not only as a means of interethnic communication but also as an essential component of access to scientific, cultural, and professional knowledge. This article examines the historical and cultural foundations of the significance of the Russian language, analyzes contemporary pedagogical trends influencing the development of linguistic competence, and identifies the factors determining the role of Russian as a tool for intellectual development and academic mobility. Based on an analysis of empirical data and teaching practices, this article identifies how proficiency in Russian contributes to the expansion of educational opportunities, the development of critical thinking, and students' participation in international scientific communication. Particular attention is paid to the influence of Russian on the development of bilingualism, intercultural competence, and student integration into a multilingual educational space.
