Abstract
The article explores the challenges and strategies involved in translating historical terms from Uzbek into English, emphasizing the cultural, social, and political nuances embedded within such terminology. It highlights that historical terms carry deep meanings related to national identity, epochs, and ideologies, which cannot be conveyed fully through literal translation. The study argues that successful translation demands a creative, artistic approach that balances fidelity to the original text with cultural adaptation for the target audience. The article also discusses the theoretical concepts of meaning, synonymy, paraphrase, and equivalence as essential tools for translators facing semantic and cultural complexities. Through practical examples, it demonstrates how translators employ various strategies like borrowing and annotation to preserve both the semantic integrity and cultural significance of historical terms, advocating for an interdisciplinary approach to translation practice.
