Abstract
This article examines the pressing issue of developing legal awareness and legal culture among individuals as a key condition for the sustainable development of a democratic society. It demonstrates that knowledge of one's rights is not only an element of personal freedom but also the foundation of social responsibility, law and order, and justice. The study analyzes the socio-political, economic, and cultural aspects of citizens' legal awareness, its impact on the effectiveness of the state system, the reduction of corruption, and the growth of trust between the state and society. Particular attention is paid to the role of education, the media, and legal institutions in raising the level of legal literacy among the population. The scientific novelty of the work lies in its comprehensive understanding of legal knowledge as a system-forming element of public consciousness, uniting individual, collective, and state interests. The author concludes that knowledge of one's rights is not only a personal benefit but also a civic duty for each individual, essential for the functioning of the rule of law and the strengthening of public trust.
