Abstract
Organizational metaphors are powerful cognitive tools used to conceptualize and analyze complex institutional dynamics. Far beyond literary devices, metaphors shape the way we understand structures, roles, cultures, and processes within organizations. This article explores the methodological dimensions of employing organizational metaphors in research and practice. It examines how metaphors frame perceptions, guide analytical inquiry, and influence strategic decisions. Drawing upon the foundational work of Gareth Morgan and others, the paper discusses the use of metaphor as both a heuristic and diagnostic device. Additionally, it explores limitations, contextual variables, and ethical considerations in metaphor-based inquiry. By elaborating on how metaphors operate methodologically, the paper contributes to more nuanced, reflective organizational studies and enriched decision-making processes.
